History of Llandyfeisant Church
Llandyfeisant Church has a fascinating history! The story spans the Romans, a long and diverse medieval period, a 19th century renaissance under the Lord Dynevors, and a wonderful wildlife centre in the 1980’s and early 1990’s. There are tales of Roman coins, skeletons in the wall, badger sets and lost diamonds! Add in the atmospheric graveyard and the ruined but well-remembered gamekeeper’s cottage and we have a story that we hope to record here and add to in the years ahead.
Visiting Llandyfeisant Church
Although, there is no vehicular access to the church, there are lovely walks passing right by. The main track leading to the church is accessed from the bridge over the Towy in Llandeilo. There is a steep and muddy path leading down from Penlan Park in Llandeilo. A track and footpath also lead down to the church from the main access drive into Dinefwr Park. If you want to extend your walk, there are beautiful footpaths from the church leading across meadows to Dinefwr Castle and Newton House. Please bear in that access is not easy – those with mobility issues may find it challenging. The church is currently locked and there is no public access.
